IU is a South Korean singer and actress. She also uses her stage name when she is working as an actress. The name "IU" is a combination of the words "I" and "You", meaning "You and I become one through music".

IU debuted with her debut single "Mia" on Mnet's "M! Countdown" on September 18, 2008, and released her first mini album "Lost and Found" on September 23, 2008. Even before her debut, IU received favorable reviews from many musicians, including Yoo Young Suk, Yoo Hee Yeol, and Jung Jae Hyung.

 

In the "MR removal video" that started trending in May 2009, IU showed off her outstanding vocal talent and became known to the public, ranking first in real-time search, and gained recognition for her vocal talent.
